The explanation of this, from Matt himself:
I had an assignment to track the brown bear fishing in Katmai National Park in Alaska. After hiking there from the Philly suburbs with all of my gear, I patiently waited down breeze from the bears with my 600mm lens focused on the action. I was looking for an iconic image of a bear catching a salmon leaping up the falls with the intention of heading further up stream to spawn. A mid-air snack. It happened all so quickly that I didn’t even realize what passed before my viewfinder until later that week when I had a chance to upload my images. One frame. The timing was perfect.
Brian Dawkins was on a fishing trip.
And I was there.
