The Delcos Files #2: Man Robs Dunkin’ Donuts On National Donut Day

Not really the guy who did it, this is in Brooklyn.

The Delco Files is a new feature on spikeeskin.com. I imagine Fantasource and I will be the main contributors. I grew up in Delco, so I can say whatever I want about Delco. You’re going to love the Granite Run Mall Photo Gallery.

It’s National Donut Day, which is one of those silly, made up holidays, but still definitely exists. And really, whatever, most holidays are made up holidays. That’s what makes this all the more amazing (from the Delco Times):

UPPER DARBY – Police are searching for a man who fled on foot after holding up a township Dunkin’ Donuts on Friday afternoon.

The armed robbery occurred about 2:10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Township Line Road. A black male with a dark complexion and medium build entered the store brandishing a handgun, according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

OMG. Please tell me he stole donuts. Please, please, please.

“He went in and demanded the money and made off with in excess of $1,500,” Chitwood said.

Well that sucks. Glad no one was hurt. But you have to at least mention …

The alleged robbery takes place on National Donut Day, which Dunkin’ Donut franchises celebrated by giving one free donut to each customer with the purchase of a beverage.

Well done.

Well, story kind of leaves me hanging not knowing whether or not he was still given a free donut.

Good point. Anyone know the answer to this?
